One of my favorite things about the brides I am fortunate enough to capture is how they embrace their inner beauty and let their confidence shine on their wedding day. When I had the pleasure of photographing Danielle & Justin Smith’s wedding in McDonough, they were the epitome of a high fashion, editorial bridal session. These two – as well as their wedding party – didn’t let Georgia’s 100 degree heat index and high humidity affect them either. Although the shaded areas were lacking in quantity and the slightest breeze was a God-send, that didn’t stop them from putting every top model to shame. Thanks to a brilliant job by Muinat of Damola Makeovers, Danielle & her bridemaids’ makeup was flawless and there was no fear of it melting due to the heat. That, combined with Danielle’s classic, strapless David’s Bridal gown, helped perfect her cool-chic aesthetic. The main thought that crossed my mind every time I clicked the shutter to capture this flawless couple was “melanin royalty”. I look forward to seeing where this couple’s love for each other takes them and how they will continue to represent black love in their community.
