VNC Photography will go to the ends of the Earth – and any mountaintop – for our clients, and we did just that this past weekend for the surprise proposal of Michael & Amanda!
Michael reached out to me several weeks ago asking if we’d be willing to hike to the summit of Blood Mountain in Georgia to photograph his proposal to his awesome girlfriend Amanda. Since Michael & I have known each other for 20 years, I didn’t hesitate to help out. What I didn’t expect was how intense the hike to the summit would be (it’s not accessible by car). Joel & I are used to walking through the woods of Red Top Mountain with little-to-no hiking involved. However, Blood Mountain is the highest peak on the Georgia section of the Appalachian Trail and the sixth-tallest mountain in Georgia. Total one-way hike: 2.6 miles! So, with only the moonlight to light our path, we started the pre-dawn hike (in 30+ degree weather) up the mountain to ensure we beat Michael & Amanda to the top. After 2 hours, we made it to the summit TWO MINUTES before they arrived; timing was everything! The result: she said yes!
Our favorite part was the thought Michael put into surprising his lady love. Not only did he make the hike with a bottle of her favorite champagne in his bag (Veuve Clicquot), he also brought her makeup for pictures and (the best part) included her grandmother’s diamond in the ring with a heart signifying it on the underside. He did a phenomenal job!
Afterwards, we celebrated with wine & a mini-engagement session at the Three Sisters Vineyards in Dahlonega! It was a perfect day filled with an abundance of autumnal love!
